5 Most Boring Jobs in the World

Updated on June 29, 2012

Who doesn’t want to have an interesting and exciting job in hand? Most times people look up the internet for some interesting jobs available in the market. However, have you ever wondered what may be some of the most boring jobs in the world? Alright, alright!! You have a desk job which keeps you glued to your chair while you program some worthless piece of code. Or you may be babysitting someone’s spoilt brat (is that boring?). But do they really qualify as too boring? And do they match up with the following jobs? Let us see some of the most boring jobs in the world.

1) Laundry worker

Have you ever done your own laundry? Washing all the dirty clothes once or twice in a week must be quite exciting, isn’t it? No? There are however few poor souls who have to do other’s laundry as a full time job every day in and out including taking orders, moving stacks of clothes, washing the laundry, dry cleaning and pressing them. How boring must that be for a job?

2) Flag-person

Job as a construction worker may be labor intensive but it gives you a dignified and a satisfying life. However sometimes, work also comes with a price such as high level of boredom. A job as a flag-person is one such example. Imagine standing at one location for 10 -12 hours turning sign posts back and forth in order to regulate the traffic when there is some construction work happening on the road. Does it sound boring? Of course, it does!! And it is not only boring, but also painful resulting in several health issues.

3) Nighttime security guard

Imagine a movie where a night guard at the museum or a bank has all the action happening in his life. Quite exciting, isn’t it? Well, not necessarily in real life. A job as a nighttime security guard is one of the most boring jobs you can get. Of course, there may be some action happening if there are burglars trying to break into the building. But how many times in a year do you get to see a burglary in one of those high security buildings? The only thing you need to fight here as a night guard is your sleep.

4) Assembly line worker

Here is another boring job one can find. Performing the same small easy task again and again in an assembly line for hours together is definitely boring. To top it, you are even unable to talk to your coworker while working. Can it getting boring than this

5) Paint dry watcher

The answer to the question I asked above is YES. What do you think are the tasks involved in watching wet paint dry? Still thinking about it? It involves just watching the wet paint dry… for hours… sitting in the same place doing nothing else. Unfortunately, there are some poor souls in the paint industry whose job is to time how long it takes for the paint to dry.

Now think again about your job. Is it as boring as you think and can it match any of these most boring jobs in the world? If not, it is time for you to get back to your beautiful interesting work.
