Updated on May 27, 2019

When we talk about the body fat and losing calories, some of the ways of losing this fat that naturally comes to mind are the cardio workouts. There are numerous cardio workouts such as running, cycling, mountain climbing or even the old school gym. Here, I am listing some the best cardio workouts one can employ to burn that stubborn body fats.

1) High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

The myth of low intensity cardio workouts such as jogging reducing body fat is passé. Here is a different kind of cardio workout that is quite effective in burning that stubborn body fat. The strategy of HIIT is simple and can be applied to any type of cardiovascular workout. It makes use of intervals of varying intensity throughout the exercise so that the body doesn’t enter a comfort zone. For example, do the maximum number of jumping jacks possible in 30 seconds, take a 10 second break and repeat the exercise again. This strategy can be used to most regular cardiovascular exercises.

2) Rollerblading

Rollerblading is another alternative to running. It is known to burn high amounts of calories easily. A person who weighs 200 or 240 pounds can easily burn about 1,138 to 1,363 calories within an hour. In fact rollerblading was ranked just second to running on MayoClinic.com.

3) Circuit training

This is one of the best cardio workouts you can have apart from high intensity interval training. Circuit-training uses nine to twelve different exercises called work stations and together, they constitute a set. Each of these exercises varies in intensity and constitutes different body-weight as well as free-weight exercises. You spend a minute on each station and take a short break of 10-15 seconds between each station. You repeat the entire set two to three times with 2-3 minutes break in between. Circuit training provides you an excellent workout by constantly challenging your body.

4) Racquetball

This is a racquet game which acts an excellent cardio workout. It is known to send your heart rate soaring through the roof. An hour of racquetball can easily help you reduce 600 calories. Playing this game two to three times a week is an excellent way to start burning your calories and gain some stamina. You can learn more about the game here.

5) Step aerobics

This is another form of aerobics which distinguishes itself from regular aerobics. It is also one of the most favourite forms of cardio exercises preferred by women. The number of calories burnt depends on step height, length of exercise time and speed of the movements. Step aerobics also provide endurance as well as strength training. It is one of the best ways of losing calories while having fun.

Now that you know some of the best cardio workouts to burn your calories, when are you planning to start shedding your extra calories?
